Step 2 is determining your "needs" in a home versus your "wants".

Start with what cities would you consider living in. Do you have children that need to be in specific school district? Will you be commuting to work or school and how far are you willing to travel?

From there, consider if you need a single family home or an attached home such as a condo, townhouse or duplex. There could be advantages or disadvantages to each, depending on your specific lifestyle and needs.

A few more basics include number of bedrooms, do you need a basement or do you need a garage?

Take some time to consider what you really need in your new home and your decision making will be easier.
